Low Country Chapter
Welcome to the Official Website of the Low Country Chapter of the American Guild of Organists
We are located on the sunny southeast coast of South Carolina and cover several counties including Beaufort, Jasper and Hampton with members throughout the area.
We hope that you use our website to find out more about us, about our programs, and about our area. Many fine musicians call the Low Country their home and we are proud to number them among our members and friends!
A note from the Dean:
I hope that you are all enjoying the early part of the summer. Whether you are taking advantage of the large number of workshops and summer courses available, still involved in day-to-day work, planning for the fall, or just relaxing with some down time, summer is a great time for all of these things. I think most of my spare time this summer will be spent on my little boat, and a few days in August up in the Sierras where, at 8,000 feet, it will be a lot cooler!
The last meeting of the Executive Board for 2013-2014 was held recently, and lots of good work was accomplished. I’d like to thank the board members for their time and efforts on behalf of all of us.
I’d especially like to thank Randy Wallace and Pat Gould, both of whom are cycling off the board, for their service to the Low Country Chapter. It was indeed a pleasure working with them and I encourage all of you to share your thanks with them as well.
The newly constituted Executive Board will be meeting in July to, among other things, approve a 2014-2015 budget. A sub-committee is meeting earlier in the month to allocate funds for the various programs coming up in the new chapter year so the July board meeting will be an important one.
I’d like also to welcome new board members, Tom Fierro and Beth Corry. Tom is fulfilling the last year of Nina Rodman’s position as member-at-large and Beth is starting a 3-year term as member-at-large. Nina has been elected to the job of Sub-Dean and will also have oversight of the program year.
After the July board meeting, we will be getting out to all of you the schedule of programs planned by our Program Committee; starting, of course, with a get-together in September where we will eat, drink, visit, fellowship and perhaps even sing.
I continue to encourage you all, when you are in the vicinity on a second Friday, to join us at Saint Luke’s, Hilton Head for our monthly Second Friday Concert. Also, now that Gary has oversight of our website (lccago.org) our programs and other happenings are being updated more frequently so, please check in from time to time and see what is happening. Also, feel free to upload your favorite pictures/stories – if you have difficulty doing that, get hold of Gary and he can talk you through the steps.
Thanks, finally, to all of you that belong to our chapter; that attend our programs- concerts and meetings. It is for you, after all, that we exist! That being said, always feel free to share thoughts and ideas with anyone on the board. We want to be a chapter that reflects the needs and wants of the membership!
Enjoy the season! I look forward to seeing all of you in September!
